Saying Good Bye
First and foremost, I have to start by saying what an honor it has been to have been able to teach your children. As a woman of faith, I have tried to sow seeds daily in hopes that my own son and my future grandchildren will one day reap my harvest. As a mother, I am extremely blessed to have been able to share this time with your children. As an educator, I feel extremely blessed by the fact that my life has been enriched in so many ways. I'd like to thank God for the grace, love and the heart HE gives me to teach children and do what I do every day. Lastly, I would like to share my infinite THANKS and gratitude to all of you and your families for your love, support, gifts, homemade food, homemade treats, and the most enriching memories over the years. As I begin a new season I feel it on my heart to say Good Bye in the best way I know how. I am going to miss each and every one of you.
Called to Be a Lion
If you are reading this it means at some point I taught your child or children for that matter. I stared my journey at OCE in 2011. I have enjoyed being a Blue Jay and have often said I was going to retire a Blue Jay. In 2015, I felt a call to transition to a different school. I really had no desire to change from my current classroom or leave OCE. Shortly after that an opportunity presented itself. I had an interview and was offered a job on the spot to teach 1st-4th grade. I told them I would only leave my team or school for a Kindergarten Team Leader position. They ended up offering me the Kindergarten Team Leader position but I didn't get the voicemail till after a month had pass. When I look back I think, had I left then, I wouldn't have been able to teach my current class. As a woman of faith I believe no one can keep you from what God has called you to do.
As we all know change is inevitable. This February, an opportunity presented itself again. As a matter a fact, two opportunities were presented to me. Like before, I wasn't looking but I already knew in my heart that change was coming. I was offered an incredible leadership opportunity and I had to accept it, especially when everything in my spirit said, YES, YES, YES! I am elated and delighted to announce that in the 2017-2018 school year I will be the Kindergarten Team Leader at Donald Leonetti Elementary located in my very own neighborhood, Sienna Plantation. I was called to be a Lion and I had to accept. Donald Leonetti is a man in our community that gave so much to our children, including my very own son, Sebastien. My son has spend many days and nights at the Leonetti's house helping to serve our community as a Senior Leader for Young Life. I was one of the parents who submitted a request that the new FBISD school be named after him and I also wanted the mascot to me the Lion. It is such an honor to have been chosen to be part of Donald Leonetti Elementary. I look forward to serving my community and all its families by helping to carry on the spirit and legacy of a cherished community servant. With that said, I am going to miss each and every one of you very much!
Written on the tablet of my heart is each and everyone of your children's names! I told them that they would always in my heart and remembered in my prayers. Every year we have a Legacy Day. On that day, I write and say each of their names as I write on my heart. I also tell them if they have never listened to me before this is the time I really need them to listen. I tell them that they will grow up to be amazing mighty men and women and they don't even know it yet, but I do. I tell them some of them will grow up to be teachers, doctors, CEO's and maybe even the President of the Untied States. I reminded them that what ever they become I want them to remember our time together. I asked them to write about what their favorite thing was about my classroom and then I have them write about what legacy do they want to leave me. How do they want me to remember them? It is my favorite day in Kindergarten. In the years to come I will write a book and I hope to be able to include your children's work and to be able to share the incredibly magic that took place in our Kindergarten classroom.
Please feel free to submit your families information to stay in touch with me on a personal or professional level. Your children know that when they graduate High School and College they need to find me so I can cook them dinner. My hearts desire to continue to support and encourage them. Legacy Day is my favorite day in Kindergarten and it is one that I believe will transcend through the generations to come. I want to encourage, to inspire and to learn while I teach so that I too can become all that God has created me to be and I want to inspire everyone who crosses my path to learn to do the same. This is my Legacy.

Leaving a Legacy
A Classroom Without a Roof!
As you may or may not remember every year I created a Memory Book for my Students. What you may not know is why I have taken the time every year that I have taught Kindergarten to do so. My son attended SWE from Pre-K to 5th grade. His two AMAZING teachers who I still remain in contact with, created and gave me a 1st Grade Memory Book. I still have it to this day and it always warms my heart and sometimes makes me cry. My son will be graduating from Ridge Point High School on June 2, 2017. This summer he will move to College Station and attend Blinn and then A&M. My hearts desire was to create and capture special moments that only take place in Kindergarten. I pray that your children's love for learning will transcend well past their generation and that when you all look back it warms your heart as well.
This year I was awarded the Digital Innovator of the Year. I was so honored and then felt very convicted that I don't share nearly enough. My hearts desire is to create a Digital Memory Book as I transition into a new role with Fort Bend ISD. If you would like for your child's pictures or work to be added to my Digital Memory Book and Future Leaving a Legacy Book please submit your information and indicate that you would like to receive more information about this in the future.
